I suspect that most of Sarah's votes went to Smitherman, as she positively endorsed him, unlike Rossi.

I know; but because her name was still on the ballot, I might have expected more of a vestigial (or "sorry you had to drop out, here's looking at you, kid") vote...

16.81% Rob Ford

Is the disparity between these poll results and reality a fair measure of where UT members tend to fall on the political spectrum, I think so.

I think a lot of Rossi's votes came from advanced polling too, since he didn't drop out until after they opened. He cast a vote for himself, for example.

I voted, as I indicated I would in the Poll, for Pantalone.

The afternoon before polling day, I got a bullying recorded message from Smitherman that lasted about 15 seconds in which - sounding angry and perhaps a little desperate - he identified himself four times as George Smitherman and barked out several abrupt messages including one telling me not to vote for Ford. This, and the message that had been put in the previous week or so that a vote for Pantalone was a "wasted" vote, reinforced my strong disinclination to vote for Smitherman. In fact, I was briefly tempted to vote for Ford to stop Smitherman. Interestingly, that's a reaction others had - as I discovered yesterday when a small group of us UT-ers gathered at Gu on Church Street to congratulate FutureMayor on his strong showing in the Mississauga race and dissect the election results.

Funny how, despite the pro-Ford phalanx on UT, it was still a Smitherlandslide in this poll thread...

Only 117 voted on UT on this poll? Thought there would have been more. I want a recount. Who didn't vote?
