From the National Post...
To add insult to injury in British Columbia, still in the early stages of drying out from extensive rain and flooding, snow is in the forecast for the Fraser Valley and elsewhere in the province. Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth took a tour of parts of the Interior Friday and described it as “incredible devastation.” Already the livestock death toll has surpassed 640,000 animals and there will likely be plenty more than that.
Edmonton tied for second place today with Toronto (trading chill for wind) behind Vancouver (another day of rain reprieve). Ottawa in fourth place and Winnipeg dead last with light snowfall.
I would have to disagree with the results in the table above, -14c is much worse than -4c no matter what way you look at it. In my opinion today Edmonton is in last place.
Edmonton and Winnipeg tied for first place; Vancouver and Toronto tied for second -- sleet in Vancouver; light rain and very high winds in Toronto kept both of these places down. Ottawa last with Sleet and winds.
@itom987 got his wish (you have an amazing Jinx Machine) although Edmonton is second warmest, snow and humidity did it in. Toronto first (same high temp. as Edmonton - chuckle, chuckle), Winnipeg second, Ottawa third, and Vancouver fourth with more rain.
Again, @itom987 temperature is only one consideration out of 5 variables. For example, Vancouver which typically comes in on top from a temperature perspective is often on the bottom from a precipitation measurement; similarly Toronto is a very windy place and when the winds are 40 kph and higher, temperature is not the prime weather concern. These variables, then, are accounted for in my model.
Vancouver wins today (temporary break in the downpour) followed by Edmonton and Toronto tied for second with Winnipeg and Ottawa also tied... but in last place.
A win for Vancouver (light rain when all others are experiencing light snow) with second place going to Edmonton and Winnipeg. Toronto is second to last and Ottawa is dead last.
The weather office cancelled its rainfall and freezing rain warnings Saturday, but the streets are still icy and heavy winds are expected in the afternoon.
