Even if he was trying to be non-partisan, there's no need to solicit a Liberal MP to become an advisor. This is similar to saying that Belinda Stronach's move to the Liberal party was because of her overwhelming qualification and not the budget vote the next day. Martin earned guffaws for that tidbit, and I think Harper's manoeuvre is nearly as contemptable.
