Good post!

I won't bring them all forward, people can follow the link for that, but I will highlight a few:

Locking in every 15M or better is good; though for a route destined to be a subway.....this could be more ambitious.

Even the rush hour here will remain poor, but do not the move to clock face and every 20M. The Sunday service is a drastic improvement but still appalling.

Good, but I'd love to see that Saturday service get to every 10.

This is quite good, getting to every 20 or better on weekdays from early through to evening rush. and Clockface.

Also good, getting rush hours to every 10 is excellent for YRT; Sundays at every 20 isn't terrible and its clockface.

While far from stellar, the scale of the improvement is laudable.

View attachment 733874

Sizable improvement.

This fills in a major grid gap, odd to omit weekday, midday service though.

Complete weekday, span of service is good, but I'd personally defer this if that can't resource 30M or better. I don't see 60M service growing ridership much.

Another one I feel could probably be deferred if the effort is that meek. Btw, can't se at least just make it every 60 consistently?

Overall, fairly positive. Could certainly be more robust, but there's real progress to cheer.

Still need them to understand the value of clockface.

And really, service less than hourly should just be intolerable.
It’s good to see YRT planning numerous increases in frequencies and spans of services even as ridership across Canada is dropping or stagnant due to fewer international students. 20 minutes for a York region route on weekends are actually pretty good.

Great to see YRT finally reversing the service decrease on Route 16 back on April 29, 2018 for Sundays, after 9 years. Saturday is still missing 1 bus.

I'm going to use this one because it's the quickest and easiest to demonstrate....

While they have budgeted for a 60 minute headway, the reality is that they are beholden to the service frequencies that the TTC has budgeted south of Steeles for this service.

Today, the TTC operates the 17 Birchmount on a 19 minute headway. Provided there are no service improvements between now and then, this means that the actual headways on the section north of Steeles - seemingly to be every third vehicle - are actually likely to be every 57 minutes.

For all of the grief that many of us give YRT (and usually rightfully so) - this is a far harder problem to resolve. If YRT was to run the service on their own, their costs would likely be far higher than to piggyback off of the TTC's own service. (To say nothing about the traffic patterns on the line, and the fact that adding a transfer may actually turn off some riders from the service.)

Sure, but what precludes YRT from paying TTC to send every second bus north, and maybe bump the TTC's headway at the same time?

Obviously, all these choices cost money; I'm not under the illusion its falling from trees; I just feel like 60m service is likely to produce less revenue per service hour or mile than 30 minute service. A critical mass of fare-paying riders is required to make a service viable; and at 60m I expect one gets near zero 'choice riders'. Its a very limiting service model.

Clearly the TTC is not short of fleet to make that happen.

They should really put some bollards around it to prevent it from happening again.
The age-old kneejerk reaction: The mathematical odds against that particular tower being hit again in an incident like this are astronomical. I have to laugh when people don't realize this and go full on we-need-to-bubblewrap-this-now every time an incident occurs at a particular location.
