A very fun Bears/Griffins game on Friday night at the Drake and exciting failed comeback by MacEwan. Nice to see so many international students there taking their experience in Canada in.
A couple of things:
1. While a decent crowd, how is a game between our two largest institutions not packed to the rafters, standing room only with FAR more MacEwan folks in the building? There's so much potential for this and the back-2-back 'subway series'. Let's make it a thing!
2. I get the whole 'moderation' approach, but a single bar for the entire stadium that backs up the entire length of the main concourse in front of the main entrance, concessions and merch is not the answer. We missed a lot of hockey just trying to get an enjoyable beverage. Customer experience pretty low.
3. RATT pre-game was fun, but the atmosphere and energy it once had is now gone. It's only open once a week (Fridays) which also mean draft beer was to be avoided; there were more alumni going to it pre-game than students or game-goers. Alas.
Great to be back on campus though; it looks amazing during Sept/early fall and made me take a stroll down memory lane.
*the old Deweys smoking mezzanine where we spent many an afternoon/evening disassembling literature, political events and the latest macro-policy. Used to be leather couches and a real interesting spot.
Good times.
