Hear me out now: instead of a fancy bridge across Walker Yard, we just build a really tall elevated guideway haha.
Well, real talk, I was thinking we run it east on the median of Yellowhead Trail on a guideway and then cross the tracks at 97th Street, where the railyard isn’t a light-year wide.

Fun fact from the Valley Line West newsletter today that before being used on the Valley Line West, this crane was used to build infrastructure at Expo 2020 Dubai. Shipped to Vancouver after, then to Edmonton.

Question, given the mess on 104 Ave and now 102, why can we forgo the 102 to 103ave bike lane shift and double down on 100ave that's already there and but two hole blocks of a detour and then pop up?

Seems like a much better idea and even the cyclist groups are saying 103ave is going to be unsafe.

?!?!?!?

As Jasper Ave work wraps up right away for the year, I think that will be the best bet for vehicle traffic east/west - vehicle traffic has been prioritized for Jasper Ave but there will also be 99,100, 103, 104 Ave.

When people drive dt for Oilers games, as an example, many choose to park a little further away to avoid the congestion (and cost) that results with so many cars in a smaller area with traffic lights on every block. It's a recipe for gridlock. I went to a 1,000 person event a few weeks ago at River Cree and it took 20 minutes just to move a few hundred meters to get out of the parking lot.

I'd love to see more people plan to take transit or park further away and walk 10 to 15 minutes then have to drive to the closest available spot to the arena (save that for people with less ability to walk further).
