For me it's a mixed situation. When I have to work a show downtown at Roger's Place, I almost always take the Valley Line in the morning for set up, but when I work the show itself and the teardown at night I tend to drive downtown because I never know when I may finish and therefore too don't know if the train will be running by the time I'm done.

The Valley Line SE doesn't have a major trip generator from the north to south. Ridership will explode with the WEM connection.

I live DT, and use it less than once a month. I'll be using the VLW multiple times weekly once it's done.

The wider sidewalks on 156st with trees are so nice. I used to always avoid walking on this street when it was just a sidewalk next to the street. Now I prefer it.

Status update for intersection at 124 Street:

"On April 22, Marigold initiated the temporary full closure of Stony Plain Road at 124 Street intersection, as part of the accelerated roadwork associated with the Valley Line West LRT. The following is an update on the status of the work scheduled to be completed during the temporary full closure.
• Removal of sidewalks and roadways – complete
• Underground utility work – complete
• Installation of soil cells – complete
• Installation of permanent streetlights & traffic signals – base and conduit installation complete
• Installation of permanent concrete curbs, sidewalks and pavement and tree pits – in progress
• Installation of track slab – in progress

The remaining work is anticipated to take approximately four weeks."

I walked by yesterday, and there were four or five workers on-site.

interested to see what happens around Lewis Farms in terms of TOD. Must be one of the worst stations in Canada for residences within 800m between the henday, gold courses, and undeveloped commercial. Hopefully some 4-6 stories can help it.

Nothing screams urban living more than living in a 16 storey high rise with sweeping views of the Anthony Henday.

It's sad to see that an area like SPR or 118 Avenue needs to be fixed up more frequently compared to Whyte or Jasper Avenue.

My only issue is that these bricks just don't seem to do well with our freeze/thaw, salt/gravel/snow cycles and quickly look ratty. Just look around Whyte. There must surely be some sort of surface that can withstand our winters! I mean, we can now have an honest-to-goodness conversation with an AI and have photos of far ranging galaxies, but we can't figure this out???

I didn't see them construct it but my guess is there's a good sand base or concrete. They shouldn't move. The bricks break down and have to be replaced over time but that's just maintenance. The bricks on 104 Street have never moved, and these are not where people walk most of the time. It's a risk but should be okay. Just don't use small red bricks in high traffic locations.
