Toronto is building its worst proposals in the most prominent areas of our skyline. You’d think these areas are the ones where the best most expensive top notch proposals would be built. Instead we are building mediocre Scarborough-level condos in our postcard skyline.
It's disappointing and unfortunate.
I think they have seen what the market can bear in the sale and rental market and decide they can't make it work with a "nice" build but an ugly and generic build.

Make no mistake, even if the market was sizzling hot, Oxford would've had even more incentive to make this proposal even more generic and sterile.

Simply put, there is no ambition behind this project. It's laziness, and they're showing that they couldn't care less how this looks or how it integrates into the city's fabric.

It's shameful, pathetic, and atrocious.

Yeah fair point, they wanna do the least and the minimum

Why is everyone acting shocked? DT Toronto's been turing into a sterile condo town for at least a decade now.
I could forgive ugliness had they actually invested in basic infrastructure like new roads, pedestrian walkways, and burying power lines, but no.
It's hard to get excited about this city anymore when the largest, supposedly most affluent city in Canada doesn't want to even do the bare minimum for its aesthetic quality.
"Build more condos and hopefully a few of them get it right."
Hasn't that been the overall vibe of this city, and the implicit agreement on the defining success among us city dev enthusiasts for a while now?

Controversial opposing take, these two towers themselves might not be that bad depending on materiality. Do they give anything to the surrounding area? No. But the actual tower design on their small portion of this site doesn't seem as bad as the reaction here would suggest.

Edit to add: well, at least above the 2nd floor. How they meet the sidewalk is pretty sterile.

These could turn out like Residence of College Park or premium residential towers in any major global city in the world. It comes down to the curtain wall. The site plan does leave a lot to be desired but, until shovels hit the ground, I'm not getting too invested.
