That statement applies to the Subway extension if anything,

I was referring to the LRT conversion and extension, several Billion less expensive than the subway.

Why are we revisiting this discussion again?

I disagree that the LRT extension/upgrade was a good idea let alone a better one as has been discussed ad nauseum here. But however, one feels, can we not leave that particular project dead and buried?

If it came about for reasons other than crass politics and without a staggering cost increase or delay then sure,

The elevated section of RT could have been retained for busses if a train wheel option were added to the busses so it could drive in a straight line without needing extra width for driving like one of the Japanese bus routes. But that might be too creative for TTC.

Dumb question... Why can't the map companies take street view images along the Scarborough Busway? Couldn't they put a camera or cameras on top of a bus to take photos along the busway or even bus or light rail or streetcar routes?

Many of the cycling trails or paths have street views that follow them. So why not?

I cannot understand why it takes years to rip up a few KM"s of concrete and repave it. Should take no longer than 12 months. 3 years later we still dont have a busway
Well, it seems like the actual construction is going to take less than a year to complete as paving is basically done across the ROW.

What actually took long was the bungled TPAP that the TTC failed to perform.

IIRC the TTC didn't even consider the need of a new barrier between the Stouffvfille line ROW and the Line 3 ROW.

So, bureaucratic inefficiencies were the main cause for the delay of this project.

It's the "soft costs" inherited in North American transit projects that cause delays and increase costs. No surprise in passing expertise over to the private sector instead of keeping it in-house.

I can't see why a TPAP was even necessary to simply downgrade/modify an existing transit corridor.

The inexperienced MOE staff these days seldom have enough pragmatic experience to do anything more than following a book, rather than using common sense.

If a TPAP was really necessary then the minister could have waived it with a stroke of a pen. How the mayor wasn't calling the Minister of the Environment I don't know.

Construction update: asphalt paving has started! A couple photos from the Tara Ave footbridge. I'm slightly confused by the fence though, it seems like the guardrail is on the other side than I would expect it to be?View attachment 735978View attachment 735979
Does anyone know why the guardrails are installed “in reverse” in this section of the busway?

The guardrails further north before the busway ends are installed “normally”.
