Not sure where best to put this, so here it is. They use Montreal as one of their international comparison cities (so far no sign of Toronto, but I am still reading it.)

No service on Line 2 between Jane and Ossington because of “injury on the tracks” situation. There’s a lot of sirens, police and fire vehicles, and people standing on Bloor St W waiting for shuttle buses near the Dundas West station.

There is no subway service between Jane and Ossington stations due to an injury on track level at Dundas West Station.
Toronto police confirm there is an ongoing investigation at track level and say there is no risk to public safety.
The TTC says shuttle buses are running between the affected stations.
It is unknown when regular subway service will resume.
Regular service resumed around 8:15 p.m.
The notices were switching between stating Ossington and Christie as the eastern end of the shutdown during the 3+ hours.

But they're saving money not installing and using platform doors.

You do realize people would jump somewhere else?
Do you realize that's not true. This has been discussed time and time again. Some would, but some are opportunistic. You are standing there, and suddenly the solution is there ... and you see a light at the end of the tunnel ...

Besides, the doors also eliminate a lot of other delays with track intruders and fires.
