I wonder if there's a way to mount some kind of GPS signal repeater or override in trouble spots ... you'd only need a few, really.

As I understand it the system uses dead reckoning via the vehicle odometer when it can't get a GPS lock.

What often happens among tall buildings is the system does get a GPS lock, but it's way off.

I'm not sure how these units are going to fare in the long-term. Many of the buses I get on have either the display not functioning - or the entire thing not functioning. And when it does function, often it seems to be flashing strange error messages from time to time; and the equipment is only a year or two old; what's it going to be like when the equipment is 10 years old?
