Something little different. For some reason this popped into my FB feed. For some reason I couldn't copy the text that accompanied it but, apparently this was a conversion in Austria in the 1930s. DC overhead power was inverted to 3-phase AC, then rectified to DC and fed to motors attached to 3 of the drivers. All of the electrical hardware was inside the hollowed-out boiler jacket.
^ there are sidings to the north and south. I assume even with the Northlander coming back and a new layover to the north they still won't need to adjust them cc @smallspy
