I knowwww. Hamilton struggles with the same thing. I'm so jealous of Montreal and Halifax and some other places that get colourful fun developments. Not all, but Hamilton and Toronto specifically love grey, white and black.
Pretty stoked about that new co-op in Scarborough, though.

Looking forward to seeing these in person when they make their way down to the Front St side of things.

I do hope that the metal (brass?) elements on the face of the blocks are securely, and I mean securely, fastened. Otherwise, they are going to start going missing and showing up at the local metal recyclers (who absolutely do not give a shit that they are fences).

I'm definitely in the "pleasantly surprised" camp also. Looking back on the hideous "butter sticks" that we had before, this is now quite an appealing old shoreline commemorative. The final applied sealing really sets them off quite nicely.
The butter sticks where really a blank canvass I suspects.

While this is better than the unadorned blocks, I still can't stand that we have giant blocks in front of Union - its the principle of obstructing pedestrian flow that bothers me.

While it's an intriguing idea to include indigenous themes here, I can't help but feel this whole row of blocks clashes wjth this National historic site, and agree with using materials as suggested by @Northern Light
This is the front face of the city for many folks, and I just don't see these concrete blocks (who in Gods name decided we need to import these when we make cement in this province...again, the whole giant block thing is inane) surviving very long past ten, or twenty years.

They were removing a bunch of the trailers and decking between them for the southern expansion a couple days ago:

Yes, I assume they are being moved down to beside the off ramp - where they cut down lots of pretty decent trees a few weeks ago and will soon start laying new (replacement) tracks.

Does this mean that there will be access to Union from the EAST side of Yonge Street - south of the rail berm???

Yep! This was recently added to the project and was the reason why I asked Northern Light when AIC documents are updated, fingers crossed we get 3d perspectives or blueprints soon.
