Good - because they lights we got shine down on the street and the sidewalk where the light is needed, not up in the sky.

That was actually my thought as well. Black might have been nice but I have no issue with the standard form.

On one of the TTC entrances on Front St, there is a new steel skeleton for a monolith sign erected. It's about half the height of the previous ones.

Should be a fun addition to the otherwise utilitarian York Concourse. As long as they don't adjust it blindingly bright (pretty please).

I don't mind a small amount of reasonably-located video decorations. It should fit the York concourse modern style well, and add a modicum of color and boredom allaying, showing weather forecasts, suburban traffic, transit alerts, transit expansion announcements, an acceptable reasonable amount of advertising that helps fund operations, etc.

So the centre island won't be devoid of greenery after all. Jennifer Keesmat has confirmed that planters will be placed along the length of the island, which will also prevent cars from parking on it.

Brand new plaza market at Union is resoundingly successful and popular.

It will be there until August 30th.

Yum. Pick up a Bacon Nation or Pancho's Bakery goodie for the commute home.
Popular Wednesday Farmer's market and Tuesday flower market pops up.
Basket of cherries after morning commute to share with your coworkers.
Flowers for your spouse on evening commute home.
Also, the movie "Hugo" is playing outdoors on July 23rd. Great choice of movie for location!

Crowd is compact, only in center 1/3rd of front of Union. Keeping sidewalks free, and York/Bay areas free for commuter flow.

Great sneak preview of Union's emerging ability as a real entertainment destination in 2017.
I must admit I like loitering in front of Union now.

Actually I was there earlier today and the line for Uncle Tetsu's was not extremely long--several other stands had longer lineups. Place was so insanely crowded it was almost impossible just to get from one side to the other.

I have been by the food market every day since it has opened and it's been very crowed since day one. It just goes to show, that if you design and program something right from the start, people will flock to it. I wish developers would put more thought into programming their properties for retail and restaurants. Once you get the synergy right, people will come. This market has really transformed Front Street and turned Union Station into a destination. I love the animation!

The waterfront could use something like this to bring in the crowds. Of course, I filmed a video of the market and will post it son.

The current biggest Union exterior problem is the Pigeon Love Hotel that the un-pigeonproofed Bay facade is. It's causing a poop problem at the TTC entrance.

Fortunately, they pigeonproofed the center façade and the York facade; I didn't see any birds inside the Market, or west of the Bay third (except the un-renovated copper frame of the VIA entrance to Great Hall; that's part of the next phase).

It will be....essentially....in the 165,000 sq ft mall below Union.

The plaza will probably rotate through various event and seasonal things, with some full block closure ("Full Front"?) for bigger events.
