Regrettably, the more I see of the cladding, the less I like it.

The east-facing profile is window-light, and cladding dominant, and this is not standing out to me in a good way.

I do hope when it all comes together, I will feel better about it...............but right now, I'm not particularly happy w/this.

The cladding doesn't look natural at all, or wood-like, its very overtly panelized, and that gives it something of a cheap aluminum/vinyl siding vibe. The colour doesn't really work for me either. The grey'ish/brown manages not to have the quality one might associate w/wood (warmth, variations in hue); while lacking the sharpness of a stark white or black, or the warmth of Terra Cotta.

I's a missed opportunity for sure. As when I think of timber buildings, I think of wood colours such as amber, oranges or golden browns...not greys, charcoal or black.

...and before anyone chimes in and asks "What about bark?"...I don't take to well to excuses made in cheapening faith. >.<

The easiest option was, they could’ve done glass and show all the interesting wood structure and it would’ve been much better. Or pick a black cladding that matched the first building next door, or a wood finish cladding. But they picked that hideous green brownish cladding that will make the building look like an old kitchen appliance from the 70s. Oh well

...to be fair, there will be glass bits that will do just that. Just not enough of it, IMO.
