Confidential Attachment - This report provides information on a negotiation with a community partner regarding a potential development opportunity at the Toronto Zoo. Release of the terms and any direction from the Board of Management of the Toronto Zoo related to the terms may affect ongoing negotiations to finalize the arrangement and any required agreement(s).​

Recommendations​

The Chief Executive Officer, Toronto Zoo, recommends that the Board of Management of the Toronto Zoo:

1. Endorse in principle the repurposing of the southeast portion of Parking Lot 1 for a potential development opportunity as described in Confidential Attachment 1, subject to completion of relevant planning reviews, impact studies, and engagement with the City of Toronto as outlined in Recommendation 2.

2. Direct Toronto Zoo staff to work through City of Toronto Corporate Real Estate Management, and in collaboration with CreateTO, and other relevant parties, to advance discussions and negotiations with a community partner on a potential development opportunity as described in Confidential Attachment 1.

3. Direct Zoo staff to report back to the Board on the status of discussions prior to the execution of any agreement(s) related to the development opportunity described in Confidential Attachment 1.

4. Approve the recommendation contained in Confidential Attachment 1.

5. Direct that the confidential information contained in Confidential Attachment 1 remain confidential in its entirety, as it contains information about an ongoing negotiation that affects the Board of Management of the Toronto Zoo.

Summary​

This report seeks authorization from the Board of Management of the Toronto Zoo to collaborate with the City of Toronto and a community partner for the purposes of pursuing a potential development opportunity at the Toronto Zoo.

Financial Impact​

There are no financial implications resulting from the adoption of this report and the recommendations contained in Confidential Attachment 1. Staff will report back to the Board prior to the execution of any agreements that have financial implications for the Zoo.
