Sorry to say, you might want to temper your expectations, timing-wise. Typically the ground floor is used as a staging area for materials that arrive before they are taken up to whichever floor the are needed on, so the ground level is often one of the last to be sealed in with cladding, and then have interior work start on it.It looks like they are close to topping out and work on the retail level must be well underway. Hopefully the original plans for a Beer Store are still in the works. For many years this was the location of my local Beer Store. With the Beer Store closing locations who knows if this is still in the works. Still, it will be interesting to see what other retail goes into the ground floor. If the Beer Store is still in the plan conceivably it could open early in the new year if not before. Until then I am happy with the service I get on Parliament Street even if I have to walk a little further.
The Georgian is a new condo that’s under construction by Stafford Homes on Gerrard on the old Beer Store lot. Rick Matthews has provided an update on the building’s progress. The slabs for the mechanical penthouse on the roof are now being poured. Plumbing lines, electrical conduits and HVAC ducts have been installed up to the ground level. Lighting has been installed on the two lower parking levels. By the Fall, the superstructure will be completed and the building’s envelope will start. During the winter, interior work begins. The building will be completed by 2027.
