Out of curiosity - why do so many things get appealed to OLT in this area? I had understood there was some bill or something that hadn't passed, which means that the zoning change in this area (to mixed use) was never actually put into law. Is that correct? Seems so obvious to me that these things should be moving fast / approved fast - there's swaths of just empty land sitting here with dust on it, that can be turned into much needed housing, and the fact that things are going so slowly is disheartening.Appealed to OLT
Fair point. I think the main issue with this, though, is its also tied to the construction of the go station and the roadway changes in the area. Without this approval, it seems like none of the work can proceed (unless I mistaken): https://ero.ontario.ca/notice/019-5872These could be approved tomorrow and would be no closer to being built because the market is not there.
In fact, according to UT's research, developers are sitting on several hundred thousand approved units across the region. But they aren't building because, again, the market isn't there.
