Taken from inside Aera restaurant the other evening. Spent the weekend showing my friends from Ohio around, they were very impressed with the city, particularly the food scene and cleanliness. They had a difficult time grasping the concept of walking and riding transit, but they thoroughly enjoyed cycling despite some of our more aggressive cyclists shouting at them.

lol, I recently had the same experience with friends from Baltimore when I was showing them around Montreal.
The whole "walking" thing is for peasants. And transit? Never heard of such a communist concept.
When I said that I am parking my car for the week and we are going to go everywhere in the city on foot and by taking metro, they laughed as if I was joking. Then it dawned on them that I wasn't joking. One had a painful expression on his face as if a dentist was pulling his teeth. The other one tilted his head sideways like a confused dog. 😅

Haha good for you! Yes, they think of not travelling by personal vehicle as beneath them economically and uncivilized.
I pre-warned my Americans that they were going to experience life like a local and they should wear comfy shoes.
I explained to mine that not owning a car is freedom, they were baffled, that everything I could ever need is within a 15 minute walk of my house, and with the money saved on vehicle expenses we get to live a bit lavishly and take incredible vacations (was very thought provoking for them). haha
