The largest waterless faucet I’ve ever seen. Hopefully the intended impact is achieved. Sculpturally speaking it doesn’t do much. It is too simple, the integration to the landscape is unimaginative and the cladding material uninteresting. Let’s hope the lighting/interactive component would make it work at least at night time, because during the day it wouldn’t make an impact
This simple design would’ve worked better if this was inside a water mirror/feature and turned into a fountain/sculpture combo, but Toronto can’t do fountains right, so I guess that wasn’t an option.
I see they added a stone pathway, which is an improvement over just grass, but also too conventional and still doesn’t elevate the design.
Overall, it is nice to see some type of art enhance the park, we need more of it, but this feels like a missed opportunity to bring memorable, impactful art that pulls visitors in, like Cloud Gate in Chicago.
