A dental clinic is moving in as a retail tenant on the corner unit:

They've been working on this every day for the last two years. It's a nightmare and I feel really bad for the owners. I don't even know if this would be covered under Tarion...

I lived in this building from 2021 - 2023, just before I moved out the building banned all residents with this type of balcony from using them. I believe the issue had something to do with the railings being poorly secured (an engineer visited my unit once and pulled hard on the railing to "test" it, lol) If that continued for two years... yikes.

Between this and the ceiling gym collapsing of the Reunion Crossing condo a bit to the west across the street, there's been a proportionately high amount of problematic building quality issues in this area.

The optics of that failure were poor, but I haven't heard anything bad about the building since it happened. I haven't heard anything bad about the neighbour, Scout, either.

As much as wood multi-unit buildings make me anxious, Scoop was an early project. Early adopters tend to have to deal with a lot of problems that get sorted out as builders gain experience working with a kind of construction.

I live in Reunion, and there aren't any ongoing issues from a quality perspective. We're overall happy with our purchase. There were the standard Tarion period headaches for a new build, but nothing crazy.

I think the ceiling issue was blown out of proportion. What happened, to my understanding, is there was a drop ceiling on wires which was structurally sound. However, the interior designers decided to attach oversized and heavy light fixtures to the drop ceiling (probably not consulting with the engineers, because I don't think finishing people would usually consult with engineers), and it fell once it couldn't hold the weight). I also think the builder opened the gym prior to getting approval from the city, so it ought not to have been opened when the issue arose. In brief, it seems to have mostly been a result of non-engineering finishing choices. It was promptly fixed (by doing a full ceiling attachment vs. a drop ceiling), and has had no issues since then.
