Well I mean we're talking 7-10 years from now, that whole area is still in the planning stage. You're trying to suggest between now and then there isn't going to be room for changes?

Furthermore, I'm not even sure how legit this rumor was, it just made sense to me given the even more challenges to put the stadium anywhere else.

Not sure if you aware of this, but there's thing called the Ontario line being built, and on that line there is going to be something called East Harbour Transit Hub. That transit hub is going to be immediately east of DVP and south of Eastern Avenue. Right in the heart of the Portlands.
Obviously aware. Where would you envision a potential stadium being built within walking distance to that station?

At minimum, you would need a spur line.

I'm asking where you'd place this hypothetical stadium that's close to the East Harbour transit hub.

My guess is the stadium would be somewhat close to the transit hub.

It's a 10 minute walk from Union Station to the RC. I'm sure if they indeed decided to put the stadium there, my guess is they would try to keep close to the transit hub as possible. Maybe like a 10 minute walk?

So it would be a similar set up.

Any my answer was one of the patches of land with no buildings on it.

I'm not sure what the argument is here. Is the only way to have a new stadium is if the train drives right into the stadium??

We're literally talking about a 10 minute walk from most of that area, the same distance it takes to walk from Union to Rogers Centre.

I mean these issue are small in contrast to the challenges of putting the stadium somewhere else.

which piece of land

Well we could pick one of those green patches, or perhaps since non of those pink buildings have actually been built yet, maybe one of those spots.

I think the point Chester is trying to make, is that all those vacant areas are spoken for, either for future residential use which achieves the maximal use of the land in a growing community, or industrial use, which is also desired close to the city, particularly for cement, power, etc.. I suppose Rogers could buy the land, but that assumes a lot regarding planning approvals, incl OPA, ZBLA. It also assumes a willing seller, and a price that makes sense for Rogers. It also assumes assemblage of lands is possible to create enough space.

I frankly don't see it, unless it's out by like Hearn or Unwin or something, and then you need transit for sure.

Well I think much of this depends on how much Ed thinks he'll make on his ROI.

Here's what I do know, the story isn't going away. I believe where there's smoke there's fire, and no matter which area you pick that is downtown, you're going to have these issues. Seeing as this area is not yet developed, it still seems less challenging then this concept of trying to somehow build this mix use complex where the stadium is currently, or most other areas DT.

Somebody is obviously privy to what his idea is and what his vision is, or the story would have gone away already.

Wouldn't building a new stadium on what is currently surface parking at Exhibition make more sense, as not only is it effectively empty land but it's also tied-in with GO and OL and would pair with the other sports properties at BMO? If they're going to create a mixed-use community with all of the sports in one spot that would be the logical place to do so, at least more-so than East Harbour.

I do agree, but I guess I stayed clear of that since I'm hearing stories that Toronto FC ticket holders can't even give there seats away because that area is such a nightmare right now to get in and out of. Maybe once the transit is done it should be easier so maybe you're right.

I realize this doesn't effect the fan experience, but wasn't there supposed to be a 3rd phase of the reno? Like new locker room and all these other things for the players?

Just curious because I haven't heard anything about it.
