Full tank mode continues for the Raps as they extend their losing streak to 15 games

Meanwhile former Rap player Malachi Flynn scores 50 pts for the Detroit Pistons last night

Oh well, they had their moment in the sun in 2019. Now it's just back to the usual reality of Toronto sports teams sucking large.

But as long as the rich people keep spending 60 plus thousand dollars on season tickets and thousands of dollars in the new yuppified VIP Clubs, where people drink $18 dollar Molson's and $40 dollar martini's with $100 dollar steak dinners, MLSE will still make loads of money. People will spend. doesn't matter how crappy the teams are.

Well, why not suck those dry who for some strange reason have more money than brains? 😈

Raptors President Masai Ujiri out.

Masai led the Raptors to their first and only championship in 2019. He was with the Raps for thirteen seasons.

I think he'll be missed, overall, he had a pretty good run here. 13 seasons is a long time in pro sports.

He's a Canadian citizen now. he has two children as well....I don't remember the exact ages, but they'll be pre-teen/early teen now I would think.

He'll have his pick of NBA teams he can run. But that likely require uprooting himself and the family and moving to the U.S.

I wonder if he would consider running Canada Basketball?

I don't know if he would have to move even if picked up by a US team. For the President level of a pro-sports team, when you aren't also the General Manager, you can often work remotely much of the time.
I recall after Brian Burke was fired by the Leafs he became the President of the Calgary Flames, but he actually never moved out of Toronto. He only flew to Calgary on rare occasions he was actually needed there in person. That was before the pandemic, so I imagine it's even easier to work remotely now.
It would be like many white collar sales jobs where you have to fly somewhere for a week a few times per year.

Guys like him get free rides on corporate jets. He won't have to uproot his family. When you make those kinds of salaries, you don't fly Air Canada West Jet or Flair. It's all corporate jets. I worked on a house owned by a retired big shot from Rogers. Even though he's retried, he still gets use out of the company jet, like it's an Uber for rich people.

Unfortunately this is fully the cause of the petty nepobaby Edward Rogers, and Keith Pelley is taking the hit on this.

Edward Rogers has long wanted to fire Masai Ujiri (shortly after the Raptors winning the championship in 2019), but wasnt able to since Bell had veto rights when they were part of the MLSE ownership group. Now that Bell is out, and Rogers essentially has full control over MLSE, there was nothing stopping Edward Rogers from getting rid of Ujiri.

The move to get rid of Ujiri makes absolutely no sense whatsover, but unfortunately Rogers has full control over the Raptors and all Toronto teams.

What does that mean? Well just take a look at the mediocre Toronto Blue Jays. A team going nowhere that isnt good enough to make the playoffs, isnt bad enough to rebuild and get value, and isnt in any position to win a championship, all while being content with the product since fans are still flocking and giving Rogers their $$$. This looks like the template Rogers seems intent on replicating with all the teams under their umbrella.
