.and stop bothering us or this city about this! Thnkx!

As said many people to Jane Jacobs as she rallied against things that would diminish this city. Park proponents are pushing (against powerful interest groups) for a project that would be transformative for Toronto. And you don't speak for the City. Park advocates aren't bothering the City; they're bothering you and those interest groups.

There's next to no chance Toronto will build Rail Deck Park but painting its advocates negatively is ridiculous. They're people who want this city to do better. You don't have to agree with their position but I'd be more worried/concerned if there were no citizens in this city who cared.

They (Craft) must be sniffing some strong bath salts.

Let's just make up an arbitrary number to artificially inflate the value of the lands because we want money. I guess I should also artificially inflate the value of my place because...i just feel like it.

This is going to be very interesting to watch, and a must watch IMO. Because if this is one of Doug's close friends, and if they manage to get any additional sum of money from Metrolinx than this is just pure and polished corruption.

This quote from the article pretty much sums how laughable Craft is on this:

Shane Rayman, a founding partner of Toronto-based law firm Rayman Harris LLP, said Craft Kingsman’s claim is not only “one of the largest claims” he’s seen in his 25 years in expropriation law, but it’s also unusual because the company didn’t legally own the air rights Metrolinx expropriated.

Craft Kingsmen acknowledges this in its claim but argues it was the “beneficial owner” of the air rights. It reached an agreement to buy them from the Canadian National Railway Company (CN) and The Toronto Terminals Railway Company Limited (TTRC) for $78.7 million in 2018. It then deferred closing the deal and making the payment twice, so it had not completed the purchase by the time Metrolinx expropriated the air rights in 2021 and 2022.

They don’t stand a chance for that amount. They are probably just hoping to settle for some amount. At least that’s what a sane person would do. Make an outlandish initial claim to try to shift the Overton window of an acceptable settlement. If they genuinely think they are owed half a billion… lol.

Ahhhhhhhhhh I have wanted to post about this for so long...

FINALLY: https://www.thetrillium.ca/news/pol...m-metrolinx-in-expropriation-dispute-11134991

(I know the rights in question aren't exactly these ones but as the story pertains directly to the viability [NONE WHATSOEVER] of this stupid phantasmagoria, it probably best belongs here)

I'll bring forward this bit:

****

This will apparently get a hearing in the first quarter of 2026.

high-rise land values per buildable square foot have plummeted in the last 2 years, good luck getting that valuation!

Interesting. I thought this whole proposal was just fantasy fluff. Never imagined there was any chance of anything here actually getting built, at least not in our lifetimes.

The overarching issue though is they never actually closed on their original transaction.

You were correct.

Can someone explains whether this lawsuit impacts the project itself? The rail deck development

I assume due to the real estate downturn these projects are probably delayed as it is as no one in there right mind is planning on buying precon at $1700-$2K/sqf which this project was aiming for.

as mentioned multiple times in the article, "craft" is no longer related to this project

As for the viability of the project....you are correct

There is no delay, it was never happening and still isn't, so no change in status.

So is this not happening because it isn't viable construction wise or the money doesn't justify the cause ?
