I was walking by this location this morning and noticed gaps in the fence where I could put the camera through.

It looks like they already filled in part of the dock. I'm not really sure how long it's been like that. I guess awhile?

Also noticed this sign as well, different from the other one I posted. Same as previous information about the project...

This Parliament Slip thread has been following the work. Bird’s eye view here:

Certainly looks like remediation and removal of contaminated land, but I am not an expert on those processes. Really need a contamination engineer to be sure.

Is it positive that nobody is pretending it's "Transit First" anymore?

One thing they’re unlikely to see soon is better transit access. -While city hall and Waterfront Toronto have said a new waterfront LRT is necessary for those who will live, work and visit the eastern waterfront — including Quayside and the new island of Ookwemin Minising — that multibillion-dollar project isn’t yet fully funded.

Nah, looks and sounds like they are digging up stones and maybe the old dock wall?

One of the constuction machines has a rock splitter attached and is actively digging into something hard.

There are also construction workers walking around in the trenches and those tenches look like they are following the old dock wall, maybe?

Edit: Confirmed. I can see the dock wall. They are tearing it up and removing it.

My cousin's husband is actually working on this. You're correct, its removing the old dock wall.

Waterfront Toronto's Email Newsletter for today (which showed up at 5pm). The email itself has the latest info but the Learn More page is out of date. Something I have to deal with on a weekly basis with marketing emails, all your info needs to match. I suspect the person creating the email and the person updating the website are different people.

What to Expect Beginning the Week of May 26: Site Preparation

Beginning the week of May 26, 2025, crews will begin mobilizing on 333 Lake Shore Boulevard East in advance of removing decommissioned dockwalls and surcharging activities (soil compaction) in the future Queens Quay East right-of-way.

Seems there is an RFP released today by the City's Affordable Housing Initiatives for non-profit or indigenous partners for housing in Quayside - Phase 1. More details and development stats in the link:

The big (1,400+ delegates) Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP)│Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) was at the WESTIN HARBOUR CASTLE this week, so we took a couple of dozen delegates from across Canada out on a walking tour of "waterfront affordable housing" sites, with a visit to the giant parking-lot that is BLOCK-1 of QUAYSIDE -
