Moving up to level 59 this morning. Seems slower to start this year. Weather I guess.
Lots of glazing on site and being delivered.

No visible demo progress on the Star tower. Any tenants still there?

We moved into our office at Scotia Back Plaza mid-Fall of 2024, and it gives me a clear view of this project. I swear, it was half this height.

To put this into perspective, the One is in the mid-70 floor at the moment. It is already less than 20 floors apart. I will not be surprised if Sky Tower eventually races ahead of the One.

Wow when you consider there are still 46 floors to go... you understand how massive this tower is going to be.
It's easy to visualize it. It's going to be the exact same height as the main pod of the CN Tower, which is to say it will tower above anything else in the skyline other than the CN Tower.

And it will appear quite a bit taller from several vantage points:

No way... The One only has 6 floors to go, plus Mech. It will be long finished before Sky Tower tops out...

But the One has been stuck around 60-70 floors for since summer, even after Tridal picking it up, it has been slow. it almost feels like in the span of the One getting 5 floors built, Sky Tower went through 20 floors.... I just thought it is possible for the Sky Tower to eclipse the One's height first, but I have no doubt the One will be finished first.

That’s true but I feel like I’ve noticed a lot of progress on the one but this’ll definitely be a bit close in the sense that the one won’t hold the title as Canada’s tallest for long..

It's not stuck around anything currently as it works it way up the mechanical floors which have been consistent when floor progress slows due to more resources and complexity used at these levels. And it certainly has not been "stuck" at those mechanical levels since summer.

...it has won its race to be this country's first super. Full stop.

It's been stuck at the mechanical levels for about 3 months. Yes, there's only 6 or 7 levels left, but remember that even the top of the 85th floor is still below 300 m (around 298 m I think), and then it may take them another 3 months (at least) to complete the mechanical penthouse, which will make it a supertall. Say they start working on the first level above the current level 2 weeks from now, give another 2 -2.5 months to get to the 85th, plus 3 months to complete the crown, that's 5.5 to 6 months. During that time Sky Tower may well hit the magical 300m mark, making it the first supertall in Canada.

You haven't been watching the ones thread apparently they are currently getting ready to form the top floor of the final mechanical level at which time they will be on to normal floor plates which they do in under a week so once the ones final mech is finished we're looking at 8 weeks until top out Even as fast as this is going up I doubt they can build 28 floors in 8 weeks in 8 weeks

I doubt they can do a 'normal' floor in under a week - 2 weeks per floor is a generous estimate. And the ceiling of the top residential floor is still under 300 m, so even when the 85th is complete, it still won't be a supertall. Given their lengthy record in building mechanical floors, it will take at least 3 months to construct the crown - only then will it be a supertall. I'm not saying SkyTower WILL hit 300 m before The One does, but it's a possibility.
