It been plan well over a decade ago to happen and my understanding it would happen at Elora intersection back then. Looking at the area last year, it would be very difficult to have a roundabout there based on the new Sq One Dr road and it will be very close to the traffic lights. Given a new driveway to those condos off Sq One Dr to the north, the current exit/entrance to Rathburn and Confederation will be close once the new road is open. They will have to finish the connection from Sq One to the existing driveway. This reduce the conflict between the existing driveway to Confederation and Sq One Dr. Since Elora is a low density road, the existing traffic light could be remove to allow free flow traffic on Rathburn. Those going east off Elora would be able to make a left turn or go to the west end where traffic light are.Wait, a bloody roundabout on Rathburn? Seriously?? I hope that's not genuinely being considered here.
For the record, the east end of Sq One Dr extension that will connect to Rathburn east of Hurontario will see a roundabout as well at Shipp Dr. This will have 5 roads connecting to that roundabout. Oh happy days, oh happy days.

I was at city hall today and saw that they’ve updated the model quite a bit! Was interesting to see for the middle block of parkside village. I know it’s just a placeholder but it originally was supposed to be 55 storeys many years ago but I hope they do something tall and interesting in this location like on the model. Also u can see the extension of square one drive here as well.
When I saw the the display some weeks ago, I noticed the building on Confederation is plan to be taller than M3 and long over due. The city has opposed tall towers since the early days with only 2 50's towers for the whole site at final approval. Both blocks 1 & 2 south of the exiting condos where only to be 35's, not the current height. When M City came alone, I said it would be a great time to increase the density and height of unbuilt towers as they came on line. Will that tower be taller than M3 will be known in the coming years as it is the next one to be built as the last site is the current sales office.
If you look closely at the display, all M City buildings are there now. It even shows the future development at the corner of Hurontario and Burnhamthorpe, along with the LRT on Hurontario. The LRT loop is missing along with a number of other development sites as its work in process considering the display been hidden for decades.
This is the current vision and it will not be completed this year and part of the park system from Duke of York with the missing section for the unbuilt tower on Confederation. The ward councilor is happy that there will still be 4 tennis court for the area, but not in the same locationWould this work be for the Zonta Meadows park redevelopment? It had said target completion was for spring 2025.
