Rumour on the Facebook Junction Pulse group is that a BMO (or Starbucks) is planned for one of the retail spots here. I hope that isn't true, and it wouldn't make sense, seeing as there is a branch right at Keele.

Urgh. I'd love it if that ground floor unit could become a Shoppers again like it was circa early 2000s. The next nearest ones to the area are trash.

Confirming that it is, in fact, a BMO entering the retail space. There is a relocation notice at the Keele/Dundas location, and BMO branding is now visible at the Pacific Residences. Disappointing, but banks and dental offices appear to be the only business models that survive in these locations.

It'll be interesting to see what takes over the old BMO building at the corner of Keele - that building should be an icon for the Junction but feels neglected and underused.

Should become a food hall, with the parking lot converted into a huge patio/programmable public square. You're welcome.

100%. That building could use a Campbell Block style refurbishment or at least a power wash. But seeing as it's the same owners as the Crossways, that's a pipe dream.

First something has to be done about the man that feeds them whole loaves of bread from the community fridge. What a mess that corner is. Anything would be an improvement IMO. Popup markets, learn to ride a bike zone for kids or giant chess board in the lot.

This would be great. Anything that gets rid of the flock of pigeons that poop all over that intersection.

The BMO relocation is massive news. That means its current building, an icon of the neighbourhood, will probably finally be revitalized. It's shocking how dated the branch looks inside. Everything has yellowed. The upper floor has seemed vacant for years (though I'm not sure if it is vacant as there could be a low-key business located up there).

Its parking lot at Keele and Dundas is ugly and needs to go. Ideally, the parking lot would either become a beautiful traditional public space or a truly architecturally outstanding new building to add to the face of the neighbourhood.

My dream, as unlikely as it is, would be to see an architecturally distinguished building like Frank Gehry's Dancing House at that spot--something that compliments the existing scale and feel of the streetscape while revitalizing and enlivening it architecturally. It would be a bold welcome to the Junction.

As mentioned in an earlier post, the existing BMO building being revitalized might be a pipe dream due to who owns it. It's owned by Creccal, who also owns the Crossways building by the Dundas West station, and they aren't known for their "community spirit". They were the ones preventing the underground tunnel connecting Dundas West station with the UPX station all these years.
