It creates an impressive vista on Yonge Street. Well done!
It’s because it’s designed by a non-Toronto architectural firm. For whatever reason, international firms have contributed by far the best designs, both residential and commercial, in this city for the last 20 years. In my opinion, Hariri Pontarini have been the best local firm for their varied and interesting designs. aA have done interesting work, but keep falling back on tired versions of the same design. Their fairly strict adherence to 60s modernism keeps them rather mediocre, in my opinion. As an example, I find their 8 Cumberland to be an utter bland, boring box they could have designed in 2005. And did. I thought Ice was their attempt to finally move beyond the ‘box’ they’d put themselves in. But no. At least they get to use curtain wall more than most local firms. I applaud the developer here for choosing Studio Gang.I would love to see more buildings of this shape take place in Toronto more than anything I find the boring square or rectangular towers annoying than the color of them It all just seems like everybody makes a different podium and drops a tower on top of it I love how this building is completely different than anything else in the city

Totally agree, it's nice to finally see something that breaks the podium + glass box formula.I would love to see more buildings of this shape take place in Toronto more than anything I find the boring square or rectangular towers annoying than the color of them It all just seems like everybody makes a different podium and drops a tower on top of it I love how this building is completely different than anything else in the city
