No, it's just sometimes I'm still amazed and amused by some of the arguments on here (re: what spandrel officially means). I mean we all love watching these high rises go up but the back and forths on just kill me sometimes lol. Not knocking on anyone on here. I've been posting on TranceAddict for years and there's the same types of arguments over exact details.

I was just trying to lighten the mood, guys. Carry on

edit: I'm sure I'll be making the same arguments when I'm educated enough. In the meantime I'll just "lurk" as we said on TA and post photos of my favourites when I manage to get downtown

You've got to be kidding - Minimize swirling winds??? I live at Bloor/Yonge and since this tower is going up, that intersection is becoming a wind tunnel and will almost be as bad as Bay and King when the tower at Bloor west is up. Get away from your crap partner? Need to change partners. Great stargazing ???? The ambient light from the city obscures all celestial bodies except perhaps the moon. Fresh clean air? If you have white patio furniture on your downtown balcony, it will be covered with soot within a day or two. Just get up in the morning and run your finger over any of it and I guarantee it will come away black.

I lived at Yonge & Bloor through the 80's to mid 90's, the strong wind tunnel effect there is nothing new. Presumably the two tall buildings on the north corners greatly helped increase the wind pressures here.
I see lots of stars, planets and shooting stars on a clear night from my downtown balcony, especially in the fall. Best viewing is obviously outside of urban areas wherever light pollution is minimal, or absent. Put on your glasses and look up.
Balcony furniture and windows get dirty, same as outdoor furniture on my mom's backyard deck in Peterborough. I wash my furniture and windows 3 or 4 times per year, that's all it needs. It does not get dirty "with soot" every two days.

Your opinion is absolutely welcome whether or not you're educated in architecture, design, construction, etc. but keep in mind that more in-depth discussion on those topics is also welcome and encouraged. In fact, most of what I know about these topics I learned from conversations like the one above. Ultimately they elevate the quality of the discourse.

Here's an "insider" tip: Wanna see most of the stars and moon every single clear night in the city? Head to Mimico. Stargazing is pretty decent there, although not as great as being in Huron County.
