Does anyone know what this is about? Is this glassed in St. Lawrence Market a part of an upcoming redevelopment or did it just get cut from the Market St. redevelopment?

I found this while looking for leasable retail spaces in the area.
This is a very old render. You can find it in this 2012 post about the (then) future revitalization of Market Street. This work was substantially completed around 2014, but the part with the glass overhang along the market itself did not end up being part of that project. I have seen various plans floated around since the for a revitalization of the lower floor of the west side of the market building where it opens onto Market Street, but none of them have (yet) come to fruition.

Thanks. Yeah, there is a lot of potential for redeveloping that derelict space under the colonnade, not just on Market Street but on the Jarvis side too. The cost to enclose it would more than be paid for by the dozen new stores that could be added.

This is rendering of the (unfunded) 'improvements to the lower level of the St Lawrence Market. There is a thread on it here https://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/st-lawrence-market-lower-level-redevelopment.28687/page-3

Last I heard, the City are still 'working on it' but my breath is not being held

Great! Just in case they need a precedent/ inspiration highly recommend the Colonnade in Karlovy Vary! 🧐
