Wet & Dry Utilites and Sanitary Installations

Construction crews will be continuing with the installation of new watermain and sanitary lines on Rathburn Road between Station Gate Road and just east of the Hurontario Street overpass.
Temporary lane closures will be required in this area from December 2021 to February 2022, including a third closure on Hammerson Drive (at Rathburn Road) in January 2022. Please look for signs announcing the lane closures on the roadway. Emergency access will always be maintained.
Overnight activities will be required at the two laydown areas located at Centre View Drive and Square One Drive beginning in December 2021. This work mainly involves trucks hauling construction materials from along the corridor and will continue until the construction is completed. Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions. Residents near the work site can expect to hear some noise from back-up beepers caused by trucks, excavators, and other construction equipment related to this work.
As utility works progress from west to east along Rathburn Road, there will be temporary road closures in order to install utilities that cross them. Please note that we will work to reduce the duration of these impacts, wherever possible, and we are working with adjacent property and business owners to provide advanced notice.
We encourage motorists to plan for delays. We recommend entering properties by turning right in, and exiting properties by turning right out. Please follow the signage in place and do not use private laneways and plaza parking lots as detour routes.

COMING SOON IN 2022:

What's Happening in January

Over the past year, most medians have been removed and temporary traffic signals have been installed along Hurontario Street and Rathburn Road. This creates enough space for crews to reconfigure active lanes of traffic and allows them to safely relocate and upgrade utilities, while minimizing traffic impacts.
We have also begun work on building the foundation supports and caissons that will form the piers for the elevated guideway. The elevated guideway, otherwise known as the HWY 403 Flyover, will connect the LRT corridor along Hurontario to the Mississauga City Centre Transit Terminal once built.
In January 2022 , you can expect to see the following activities to take place in Mississauga Centre:
  • Relocations and upgrades to watermain, storm, and sanity infrastructure will continue along Rathburn Road and preparatory works for utilities will begin along Hurontario Street.

Lost opportunity to build a pedestrian / cyclist bridge over the 403.
Gee!!!..................I walk over Hurontario bridge with no issues. There is no cycling lanes on Hurontario at this time and no need for a separated bridge. MTO is calling the shots what goes over the 403 highway and a separated bridge not in the cards at this time

Jan 2
Based on what I saw today, The Tunnel Section At Port Credit will not be move this month.

Cannot tell if the roof has been pour or not, but the equipment to top it is there and cover up.

They are still digging the trench for the hydrology system to push the Tunnel Section, with the beams store on the grass area on the north side of the parking lot. Very small crew on site today.

Going out on the limb, the 2 line closures for this month is to remove the earth embankment on both side of the corridor to prepare the area to have less earth to push through. Also getting ready to start work on the Mary Fix Creek rebuilt project that is in the way of the LRT line.

The Drone folks will get a better shot of the area than I could get today.

I still can’t believe this thing isn’t ending at lakeshore. I mean as a Torontonian it was very annoying living in the suburbs and trying to get to the lake via Yonge. But at least they had a street car to get you the last leg. And here we are for Brampton and Mississauga residents who only have access to transit will have to walk the last little bit. It’s almost like the lakeshore people don’t want the lrt transit people too close. Kind of like how bayview village mall refused to build a subway to mall entrance because god forbid transit users have easy access to their fancy mall. I can’t say I hate this project but the one place I want to get to I can’t. Which makes this whole damn thing annoying. Actually I can’t get to the rose theatre either. Ugh.

If they added a stop at LakeShore while keeping Port Credit station, people on Urban Toronto would complain about stops being too close together and how it isn't rapid transit because of that.

That said, given the future density of the area, the business case for a ~3 stop surface extension westbound on LakeShore to Mississauga Road or Benson Ave seems fairly strong; at least as strong as proposed Brampton extensions.

It's 230metres from the foot of 10 and lakeshore. Effectively, the thing does end at Lakeshore.
If it is so close which I agree it is then it should have had an extra stop or a extra long underground platform. Either way this is far from ideal.

Brampton has a ton of Zum routes that are extremely frequent and useful.
