It will be interesting to see what work has started between now when we returning home July 25 from the east coast starting Wed. No work has started in the areas that was supposed to happen in June and July so far along with 3 intersection that still don't have construction light install.

What I have seen the last few days is still the same as it was a month ago except for Port Credit.
 
Utility relocations work, including the installation of new temporary traffic signals, will continue from Highway 407 all the way to Bartley Bull Parkway. This will ensure the safe delivery of utility service, as well as the smooth transition of traffic beyond the Hurontario LRTs terminus stop just south of Steeles Avenue.

I think some of the blame for this choice lies with Brampton. As they couldn’t decide if the line should continue north or veer off left or right at Steels, it made sense to stop south of Steels. The stop might’ve been placed south of Steels even if the line was approved to continue north and for that Metrolinx deserves all the criticism just it does for its seemingly stupid placement of many of the stops in Mississauga.

Median Removals and the Installation of Temporary Traffic Signals​

Median removals, paving and reinstatement of the roadway continue at the following crossings and intersections:
  • Burnhamthorpe Road
  • Absolute Avenue
  • Robert Speck Parkway
The installation of temporary traffic signals on Rathburn Road as well as on Hurontario Street will take place at the following intersections and crossings:

  • Kingsbridge Garden Circle Drive/Elia Avenue
This work involves pulling and connecting spans that support the overhead traffic signal heads, removing existing traffic signal poles, and energizing the new temporary overhead signals to finalize the installation.


Geotechnical Investigations and Sub-Surface Utility Engineering (SUE)​

Geotechnical investigations and SUE work continues near HWY 403. These works involve drilling boreholes and creating test pits to gather information on the ground conditions specific to the area and helps to map the locations of existing utilities (Enbridge oil pipeline). This helps to inform the construction methodology and advance the design process, prior to excavations and utility works taking place in the area.

Utilities and Roadways​

Site preparation for utility relocations and civil works for roadways are expected to begin in August along Hurontario Street, between Matthews Gate and Eglinton Avenue, as well as along Rathburn Road where the LRT will eventually connect with the Mississauga City Centre Transit Terminal.


This involves line painting for new traffic lane configurations, temporary hoarding for tree protections, and the installation of temporary bus platforms.

Before utility works begin along Hurontario Street this summer, crews will start utility works along Rathburn Road. During utility works, Rathburn Road will have one lane of active traffic in each direction. During roadworks, there will be two lanes of active traffic in one direction and one lane in the opposite direction for roadworks.

Work is expected to begin on the south side of Rathburn Road in August and should be completed this fall. Where utilities cross the bus terminal, bus bays will have to be closed (one at a time) to accommodate the work. We’re working closely with our partners at MiWay and GO Transit on these works. We encourage everyone to check their bus schedules in advance and follow the signage in place.

As COVID-19 restrictions begin to lift, you’ll see us out and about in the community a little more over the coming weeks. Our Community Canvass will start at the beginning of August, giving us a chance to touch base with residents and businesses along the corridor to find out how we can support through construction and what they are most excited about as the Hurontario LRT project progresses!


As construction progresses, we’ll be putting up “Shop Local” signage along Hurontario Street in addition to our directional signage and businesses are open signage.
 
I see work has finally being setup between Dundas and Burnhamthrope that was supposed to started in June. They were string the new lights at Burnhamthrope on Friday when we arrived home. Lights not turn on nor medium remove yet.

Other lights are up with paving being done for the removed medium.

Looks like things were installed on the wrong side for bus stops and fencing as they are revised today. It was a bitch going north Friday night as there was only one lane and it was swing into the southbound lanes.

Nothing to write home about the sections up by the 401 area as I see no change since beginning of July.
