Bombardier has locked up a deal to provide 30 years of maintenance to the light rail vehicles it is providing to the new Toronto Eglinton Crosstown line, the company announced on Monday.
The deal, which is to maintain the Flexity Freedom vehicles, was awarded by Crosslinx Transit Solutions Maintenance General Partnership and is valued at $403 million.
The 19-kilometre line is a $5.3-billion project announced in 2010.
Bombardier will also be using its Automated Vehicle Inspection System (AVI System) and its Bombardier Orbiflo advanced condition monitoring system so it can automatically inspect the vehicles and provide predictive maintenance.
