Well, to be fair, a huge differentiator-Yeah ... good idea. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that before in the 18 years that this 1000+ page thread has been going.
should we be able to build subways for the cost we built this LRT? Yes, it has been done in past toronto, and in current elsewhere.
are we, in the big '26, in Toronto, Canada, able to build subways for the cost we built this LRT? Hell no.
Simultaneously, I find people on both ends who don't seem to accept this, who either believe that if we just did changed one design consideration it'd be as cheap as China, and others who believe that we just live on magical ground that makes our project cost a magnitude more than other ground elsewhere, and we just need to accept that we're never getting cheaper.
(I'm aware i'm repeating myself from past comments. It is what it is.)
