In a desparate attempt to try and get things back on track here, I am compiling a video on the Belt Line Trail. i found it really annoying that Chaplin Station has gigantic stairs down to the trail, but no trailside door. Reminds me a lot of the south entrance of St Clair West, which has the exit to Cedarvale Ravine but is often closed.
 
For those who have seen train testing recently, how frequent were the trains running and where did you spot them?
I wonder if the track issues near Kennedy have been fixed by now.
I followed a train from birchmount to don Mills the other day, I did see one going the other way as well. It was actually keeping up with traffic for most part and that wasn't full service speed I presume.
I was wondering why the stops are placed after the light and not before, then I thought maybe they don't want a large crowd on one side of the street, that was my best guess. But they have done that with certain bus stops as well and it's actually stupid. You block up one lane near an intersection, the busy stops 2x, one for the light then right after at the stop, makes little sense

Would this count as operator training?
I know the second class was cancelled and I'm wondering if this is a continuation of that class.

Things are slowly progressing to the good on the signalling system. They've started running some system timing runs over the past several days, to ensure the schedules are being written in a realistic manner.

Part of me wants this line to actually never open. It's already in the running as one of the greatest performance art pieces in modern history ;)
if anything last week was a proof of concept that the current shelters are indeed a failed concept. they wouldve provided virtually zero protection from the wind and snow.
at times like these you actually appreciate the fact that YRT had winter weather in mind when they built their rapidway stations regardless of how overengineered it is. .

Another option would be like what Edmonton did with the Valley Line. Every station has an enclosed area for inclement weather, and the stations are similar in dimensions.

It’s ironic that viva was built with great shelters for nobody while Toronto builds nothing for their many riders.

However they do have a tendency of turning into a homeless space. Some of the city’s transit access hubs had become such space in the past
 
I saw an anecdote recently about workers having to dig underneath the rail switches at the maintenance facility to manually warm them up because the rail heaters had failed 😂
I guess it means they still intended to continue testing despite all the snow lately.

Probably just that the heavy snowfall rate overwhelmed them. Did they run trains at all during the snowfall to keep the line clear?

Probably not much of a need to keep the line clear, since they're in no hurry to finish training the ops these days.

If they let the snow/ice thaw at it's regular pace, it probably wont make much of any difference.
