Two bus routes will terminate at the Caledonia Station. The 47 LANSDOWNE and the 18 CALEDONIA buses (subject to change).

The buses will enter from the east, loop counter-clockwise before exiting at the west to return to Caledonia Road. The exit or egress will be in the Blackthorn Avenue intersection. That intersection is a very w-i-d-e signalled intersection.

Do you see the problem with the traffic signals? They follow the MTO regulations by being located at the FARSIDE of the intersection.

Why are stop and yield signs located on the NEARSIDE of intersections?
Why are railway signals located on the NEARSIDE of railroad crossings?
Why are traffic signals IN EUROPE located on the NEARSIDE of intersections?
Why are traffic signals IN NORTH AMERICA located on the FARSIDE of intersections?

There should be traffic signals, especially at the Caledonia Station & Blackthorn Avenue intersection, on the NEARSIDE.

Now go to this intersection at night, or when it's snowing or foggy. You won't be able to "see" the problem.

Shouldn't they be using a diagonal transit signal for the buses egressing out of the station? But of course, MTO and Ontario know better. 🫣
Maybe they are expecting automobiles to exit from the bus loop.

Already seen automobiles stopping at the farside traffic signal (going westbound on Eglinton) because of a red signal. Then being passed by left turning vehicles turning left from Blackthorn to go west on Eglinton.

Ditto for going eastbound on Eglinton West. Saw two cars going eastbound and stopping at Blackthorn. If the Caledonia Station's bus loop was in operation, buses leaving loop the to go east would be blocked by the eastbound cars stopping at Blackthorn.

Same here. Seen cars stop in the yellow box area before Blackthorn at the red light. If Caledonia station bus loop was in operation, buses leaving the loop turning to go east will be blocked. No enforcement there.

In Europe, when a traffic signal shows a green light, drivers must proceed through the intersection only if it is clear and they must yield to emergency vehicles and other roadway users, as required by law. If we had nearside traffic signal at Caledonia Station, and drivers on Blackthorn get a green signal, they would only proceed if the intersection is clear.

Drivers on Eglinton in either direction may get a red signal after they pass the stop line, but seeing no signals ahead of them should continue onward. With the current farside signals visible, they will likely stop and end up blocking the intersection. (Also why we have blocked intersections in Toronto, because of the farside signals.) With AI, the traffic signals could get an early red, if they detect traffic not moving pass the intersection steadily.

April 1: The above-ground portions of the old industrial building has been completely demolished but the excavator with the jackhammer attachment is still pulverizing things on the ground.

Vegetation has been cleared on both sides. Not sure if the signal mast will be moved.

Bonus: I discovered that they built a walkway behind the station to the north. Looks like it's just for emergencies/services, though, and I'm not sure if it's meant to go all the way to the GO platform.

These kinds of GO-TTC rapid transit interchange stations, coupled with all-day service and fare integration, are going to be game changers for transit in the region. I'm glad to see that progress is being made on this one. There are many people in the area who are looking forward to the GO station even more than the TTC station.

I’m one of them, as of now I take the bus on Ennerdale to Eglinton West Station to Downsview Station, then get on the Go to go to Barrie (I do this once a month) and when this station opens I can walk with my dog for about12- 15 min and I’m on my way to Barrie

Sorry these photos were taken July 18th. It’s possible to approach the LRT station entrance, and to cross the bus waiting area get to the grocery store from Croham Road. A welcome change from having to walk all the way around.
