Maybe they are doing a test. It looks like there are 3 different options there.

I believe the ones between the grey and black are just missing the glass cover. They look like aluminum or something like that when I walk past.

When I looked at it yesterday, facing Dalhouse it seemed like the color/tone changed from bottom to top. Either graduation of color (doubtful), or maybe trying out different tones?
