Without any warning?? What is it with such nonsense, not even giving patrons the chance to visit one last time?

Also, why do you feel the writing has been on the wall for a while, @PL1 ?

They had a while in the fall without much product IIRC. They announced a new brewmaster. And tbh, they have long been the weakest of the three Junction breweries

It's been a few years since my days of driving around the city and seeking out interesting beers, but I wouldn't describe them as the weakest of the three. Rather, they seemed to solely do beers that came from a specific vision of the brewmaster, without much regard for what was popular out there. Maybe that's "weak" in terms of making money, but they made great beers that were often a lot more interesting than what the others were offering!

Absolutely this - they didn't follow trends or offer generic brews that suck in the zombie normies. They even offered a durian IPA at one point. That made them the strongest in the area, if anything. They were the Towered of beer :p

Their Belgian style beers were great. But they are definitely not for the masses. Very small space, didn't help. I will miss them though

Yeah, I always thought Junction was the weakest of the three, especially when they moved out to Symes.

I last went to Shacklands a few months ago. The whole place was being ripped apart. Supposedly for renovations. It was technically closed (though without notice) but I managed to get a few beers from the fridge.

From industry insiders that I know, they are closing 6 months later than originally planned, and for that we should be thankful!

I'll be going and helping them monetize their stock

PSA: some breweries are starting Oktoberfest today. This is Left Field Leslieville (they are doing it at both locations). Also Godspeed. Not sure about others!
