Most of the granite pavers east of Yonge/Bloor have been replaced with asphalt

Other than the longstanding bit on the N/E corner of the intersection where public art was supposed to have been installed any asphalt is temporary, for the station reconstruction and expansion project.

Some may be returned in the near term, some probably won't return until the late stages of the project ~2029

But the streetscape here remains granite by design, and will be maintained as such long term.

what an eyesore - and a hazard! the asphalt patch in the first pic is quite raised and I tripped over it! I’m guessing these wont be fixed anytime soon?

Not sure where exactly these were taken, but a few months ago I requested more info from the BIA about the state of the pavers on Bloor east of Yonge, and I received this response:

"Yes, we agree that the sidewalk is looking rather awful, but unfortunately, we’re stuck with this for years to come. As you may be aware, the TTC are doing a complete overhaul of the station there. To do this, they will be removing everything in the public realm to facilitate their ‘top down’ approach and will not be restoring any of it until the end, which is said to be 2030."
