I guess they thought its a good commuter lot due to proximity to Bayview station... would've been nice to see a Fairgrounds there instead though (if we weren't going to get a building)

Until the CoT fixes the tax structure around interim uses like that, we won't be getting and Fairgrounds-style spaces any time soon.

I wonder if @UrbanAffair has any update on this? Matlow is working to get it changed, but I'm not sure where that's all at.

I didn't even know changes were underway, so you’re more up to date than me. I don’t really work on the “tax” or assessment side of things anymore. You’re right that the tax structure would need to change to make any interim use viable, specifically it couldn’t be vacant land with entitlements in place for high density multi res use. But I may be out of loop on this stuff a bit if things have changed.
