So it looks like we have a shift in material palette and expression in an effort to mollify the neighbours.

The addition has gone from black/charcoal brick to a more conventional brown; and the rather abstract window arrangement is out in favour of something a bit more conventional.

New renderings are updated in the database! The only information changed in the project is the total parking spaces from 2 parking spaces to 1 parking space. The unit count remains the same at 15. And the overall building height remains at 13.13m.

The rendering is taken from the architectural plan via Site Plan Approval:

Severely underwhelming to say the least, especially if this was the compromise to not upset the local Riverdale rousers.

Found the update. This is now a residence for Indigenous men:

Chalk up another victim to this city's ambivalence to functional aethetics. If the original proposal hadn't been so bad, it might not have triggered such a virulent NIMBY reaction and the process might have flowed just a little more smoothly and those additional units may not have been lost. If you propose something that looks like a medieval keep in a neighbourhood where none of the buildings look like a medieval keep, expect pushback. I'm not criticizing medieval keeps; they can be very useful structures during medieval times and settings. But the people in Riverdale are likely not expecting an assault by knights and archers any time in the near future. If that were to happen, residents would likely gain time to escape as the attackers paused to marvel at the shiny panels on this small addition.
