Honestly I'd rather demolish the existing tower and build the Ontario Science Centre here. It'll benefit from being downtown and right next to the AGO - just like how the Science Museum in London is a major tourist attraction because it's right next to the Natural History Museum and the V&A Museum in Central London.
I see what you mean but I also think an important identity for the OSC is that it is next to a ravine and that informs a lot of its nature and outdoor programming, I'm just not sure you can get the same thing out of a downtown location, though I do think a new museum here would be wonderful.

There is a lot of discussion about this among the locals who are regulars at the dog park. I missed the first meeting, but the dog park's Instagram group @grangeparkdogs posted this summary, emphasis on points are mine:

The meeting tonight was extremely disappointing. Despite a large number of concerns about the impact on the dog park, the City staff did their utmost to avoid commenting on anything related to dogs.

Points to note:
-The new building will be 8m distance from the dog park. This is intrusive for both dog people and the residents in the new building. The City requires more than 20m distance between residential buildings and a dog park. There WILL be complaints from residents of noise.
-The shadow impact will put the DOLA in shade from 9am to 4pm. Currently we only get shade from 11am to 2pm.
-The increased shade will contribute to even more drainage concerns
-They have located a door on the wall that faces the dog park - this will be a constant disruption for the dogs - potential area of conflict given the extremely close proximity.
-The sheer number of additional residents AND dogs to the area will add more stress on the state of the park. Maintenance is already a huge concern.
There is literally a laundry list of concerns. Please send an email to the City to tell them your thoughts.

The concern about drainage at the park is very valid. When wet, it stays wet for a long time, and reeks like compost. The lack of sunlight is welcome during hot summer days, but for the rest of the year it makes it more uncomfortable to stand around in cooler weather.

Next meeting is June 4.
