This was approved at last nights council meeting with absolutely no opposition (even from the most NIMBY councillor). The most interesting thing about it is that at the original meeting in October there wasn't any discussion on it and yesterday there was no discussion either, most projects that come to council especially those of significant height by KW standards have very long discussions sometimes spanning multiple meetings, yet there was effectively none with this one. VanMar/Staff basically said NAVCAN has no issues and then it was approved.

Considering it's not near any low-rise residential, Tek and One Victoria are right beside it, and there aren't many businesses affected (aside from Ziggy's et al who have already vacated the building), it's hard to imagine who would oppose it.

I remember when Tek was announced, it was one going to be one of the tallest (or the tallest?) towers in the region, and now it's not even finished construction and there is another announced right beside it that will be over 100' taller.

I don’t think thats an indication of anything. They paid 19 million for this site and are still very well in business. Station park tower 4 has permits approved for shoring and digging. Just waiting on more sales to begin

For Station Park Tower 4 the permits haven't been approved yet, the only two permits for Tower 4 are in resubmission review (Foundation/Underground Parking) and application status (Balance of Construction). They haven't applied for shoring yet.

VanMar also doesn't have Station Park Tower 5 on their website which is going to happen eventually, even lesser known VanMar projects like 6 Regina are still progressing, 6 Regina just got OLT approval in November. They've just decided for whatever reason to not have anything on their websites for future projects.

VanMar also has a whole other project management arm which is doing all sorts of projects, not only in Ontario but also BC so they're very well off.
