All is not well here in the early days of this site...........

Its not yet fully tenanted, and there have safety/community issues.

Councillor Thomson had an Administrative Inquiry on the Council agenda, with a slew of questions to be answered by the City Manager.

I don't live near here, don't have any great sense of the depth/frequency of any issues.......but I do worry if a strong negative reaction is emerging, and one from a community that is already includes rental and TCHC (as opposed to being at Willowdale and Cummer)....that pushback may be a threat to future work.

I've read what's available publicly above, and I can't get a clear sense of whether there is adequate support on site/tenants are being properly selected. or not.

But I certainly hope any issues can be thoughtfully and compassionately addressed quickly so as not to stoke unreasonable fears of like developments elsewhere.

EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN. you guys don't even live here, and just assumed that the people you decided to move into that apartment would be fine?! Because of you guys I can't even walk safely on the sidewalk, and I had to change my regular route to school, and I'm not even safe anymore! If you guys were going to add people into that apartment, you should have done NORMAL people that are just low income. Do you even know what it's like to be here? No, you don't because you don't even live here! Imagine how many children are in risk of walking to school! I just wish you guys would have actually talked to the community and thought about us before just adding the apartment and expecting everyone to be fine.

I hope that you guys are proud of yourselfs for ruining our area, and our safety.

Or how about this opinion...

...at the end of the day, I don't really care if this becomes a crack house, an opium den, a bikers club, an 'embassy" for the yakuza's international operations...or all of them - it doesn't matter who lives here, the fundamental principle of adequate housing being as a human right is being honoured here. Thusly, it's something that proceeds all walks of life, income, beliefs and standings. So it's not something that's up debate, even if houses society's worst bad actors...

...I get this whole bad publicity thing..but people shouldn't have to be playing politics with their neighbours to get a roof over their heads. So let's start there.

No one here decided to move anyone anywhere. No one here is responsible for who is living there. And just what do you mean by "normal people"?
Okay okay, my bad, I should have worded it a different way. What I meant is that in that specific location, reminding you, that children take that route to go to school, it would be more safer if they just let people not on drugs and recovering stay there, or like low income people/families. I know I can't really do anything about it, but it's just not safe. Maybe you should come around the area and see what I mean. (IM NOT ASKING TO SEE YOU)

...I never quite understood the logic of "let's think of the children" fallacy, as I know many who have experienced growing up/living with addicts and those recovering from addiction, including myself. It's never really a pleasant thing, but we should never deprive them of basic necessities regardless. Nor does this stop those who are "impressionable" from seeking out and doing drugs in the eventuality. A kinda weird moral understanding that should of died with Reagan and Thatcher, IMO. But here we are still talking off-topically about this as the reasons to prevent those less fortunate from getting a decent roof over their heads. /sigh
