I just noticed the rendering @interchange42 posted above is labelled as "looking north" in the article; I think it is looking south towards this project.

Anyways, there are very few proposed or under construction towers in Ontario outside Toronto that are to be taller than the tallest building here. I can think of only 2 in Mississauga, and 1 or 2 in Niagara Falls, that's it. This should be an interesting project to watch, nonetheless.
 
What about the services like schools, policing, fire, hospital/medical that will be needed to support all this? Not to mention the traffic.

If this is a master planned development these could all be things taken into account such as having a school in one of the towers daycare Vaughn has a new hospital that just opened 5 years ago so a lot of these are mitigated More so than it would be if something like this went in downtown where there is already a massive amount of density
 
Isn’t this land currently being used to store all the machinery and construction equipment for other projects?

It'll be there for the foreseeable future because nothing will be built on this site for a while.
