I wonder how much longer Loblaws @ Dupont & Christie is going to be around? I hear from reliable sources that the land there has already been sold to a developer.
Condos are surely coming soon...maybe put the grocery store back in after the condo is built?
For now though, anyone who is lucky enough to live next door to Loblaws (@ 291 Christie) won't have to go far for groceries.
This Loblaws has certain advantages - it's the only one downtown where it isn't a pain the ass to park. It's my go-to.It'll be there for some time. Choice has not (at least of about 6 weeks ago) sold this; it is one of their best-producing stores, and they are focusing on their already-robust development pipeline of stuff that's already underway.
Notably, this is one of the better-located sites in the city with respect to grocery store proximity -- it's a short walk from all of Farm Boy, Loblaws, and Fiesta Farms/Gardens.

My biking days are effectively over, after being my means of commuting for many years. I can't bring myself to dole out several grand for another awesome e-bike only for some low life crackhead loser to steal it again and our overpaid police force to shrug about it. **** 'em all.You do not need more loud tights....when you get your $200 cheque put it towards a bike... LOL l
What kind of nonsense is this with a fine UT urbanist prizing parking as a key feature of his grocery store! LOL
It has not sold and Choice / Loblaws won't be entertaining that for a long time. In 2018, it was in their 15-20 year bucket. And that's when there was a market...I wonder how much longer Loblaws @ Dupont & Christie is going to be around? I hear from reliable sources that the land there has already been sold to a developer.

They could do it on spec with their own money tomorrow (with entitlements in place). It's not that they "can't", it's that the income is too great to make taking it offline (even temporarily) an uneconomical proposition.Choice has had real issues pushing any of their pipeline sites out the other end...............they're the private sector version of CreateTO......
That pipeline, which is large, has barely budged in 2 years...........and they're about to throw Jarvis/Queen's Quay on top of that.
They can't be adding more stuff they can't get off the ground.........eventually that Weston scion is going to get tired of watching them burn his money, LOL

End result? Society has created another driver that wasn't necessary! Now, despite my simmering rage with Toronto's horrific traffic, I can at least take a quantum of solace in the fact that at least I'm in my own controlled environment with climate control and beautiful classical music playing to feed my soul...
