A photo from a few weeks ago from the same friend, they were on the 14th floor there. The second photo is from University, they're up to the 18th floor, roughly a floor a week. The cladding is up to the 10th floor.

Went to pick up something in Waterloo today and wow this one really snuck up on me. Didn’t know they had made so much progress. I think the blue cladding looks kinda cool and helps it stick out. I often overlook waterloos skyline because it’s not as tall as Kitchener, but it sure is dense, and keeps getting denser which gives it a more urban feel. Also, it seems like so many towers here top out at a similar height, does Waterloo have a height cap?

Most of the Northdale area (student towers) that is zoned for high density tops out at 81m/ 25 storeys. And Waterloo does not like granting extra height, and will happily fight it at the OLT, so a lot of developers just max out what they can within that theoretical building envelope.

Ohhh k, that makes a lot of sense now looking at it. Yet another reason why Kitchener is superior 😎😆
