Old Kingston Road - in Scarborough
The west end of Old Kingston Rd. begins here in West Hill.
Before entering Highland Creek Valley, the road is lined with beautiful old homes, modern apartment buildings and this church with adjacent graveyard.
The valley and river are enhanced by many beautiful pathways.
The recently established Mosque. at the east of the valley, was once a local 'hot-spot' known as The Highland House and later, The Running Pump.
Upon entering Highland Creek Village, we find many small businesses and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
At the main intersection (Morrish Rd.), the N/E corner reveals the (1924) Morrish General Store behind the facade of new businesses.
A colourful mural was once a landmark in the main business section.
Unfortunately, it has recently been obliterated.
Fortunately, the small, nicely preserved Wesleyan Cemetery has another fine mural which remains intact.
Ted's Restaurant is at the end of Old Kingston Rd. (as it, once again, becomes "Kingston Rd.")
