While not infrastructure, this is VERY much about transportation:

A car rally! A rental car rally! You could even rent a Hybrid (how responsible!)

Rules are here: http://www.wiimbledon.net/rentalcarrally/rules.html

I know cars are often enemy #1, but what an awesome way to see our region!

Hmm, while this IS an Out & About as well, I still think it belongs slightly more in the Infrastructure and Transportation forum. Road Rallies are really more about seeing the countryside and appreciating our automobile infrastructure, than they are about racing. The 'race' is just an excuse to keep people moving :)

Plus, there's a larger dialogue about the role of public road rallies in 2008 - especially given the climate of opinion when it comes to cars :)

Dunno 'bout this. I'm trying to envision the joy of explaining to the insurance and car rental companies that the car got smashed up while I was driving in a "race" in a foreign country... egads.

Also, having a big drunkfest at night and then driving in the morning sounds ill-advised, as many people could easily still wake up over the legal limit.

But hey, I've always been a party pooper.

Sounds pathetic.
Drunk making beverages in the same ad as a driving contest? Riiiight.

"Driving contest" ?

It's a rally! You're supposed to drive and then party and then drive again. You get to Montreal at Noon. Plenty of time to get drunk and sleep it off. And you're a team, so team drink. The Pilot can tuck in early while the Co-Pilot and Navigator get shit faced - just as long as one can read a map, and the other's stable by mid-day. :p

The more interesting legal road rallies feature exotic or classic cars and long distances.

This one might not be bad, but it's very amateur in marketing.

Do you have an exotic or classic car? Is it a feasible expense for you as a weekend adventure to rent one? Probably not, eh?

This is meant as a fun rally more in the spirit of the Cannonball Run than the Gumball Rally :)

It doesn't have to be an expensive car. A well maintained Triumph or Mustang will suffice.

But this one sounds respectable too, if less interesting. It's relevant to the carless urbanite.
